The Baker
I've finally managed to watch The Baker (thanks
un4scene!) and it was just as fun as I've been told it was. It's purely popcorn entertainment and delivered very well and seeing John Amsterdam (particularly when Nikolaj's character kept saying Amsterdam) and Charlie Crews in a scene together is really funny and bizarre.
I love how very British it was, it was like watching a British version of Grosse Point Blank but with its own quirks put in: exploding sheep, sabotaging gardens and the very funny slash! And the love story was low key and fun too.
I'm glad I set aside time to watch this.
NCIS
I've been reluctant to watch the episodes after Kate died because I liked her character a lot but I've been hearing a lot of good things about Ziva so I finally found the time to watch the two-parter and y'know what? All my fears were laid to rest because Ziva isn't Kate and Kate isn't Ziva. She isn't out to take Kate's place. Ziva is Ziva, kickass and badass Mossad assassin.
Her first outing with the team and what she had to do, especially after the reveal won me over and then I leapfrogged to the recent episode and there was Ziva after having gone through a harrowing experience indulges in a few rounds of beer and a one night stand and guess what? Yeah, one of the narrative kinks I like so well. I haven't finished watching the episode but so far Ziva David two for two.
Okay, when did McGee become so hot?

damian-lewis.com reports DL will be in the May 12 NBC upfronts, meaning more pictures of Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi together, yay! I just wish they hadn't moved their production schedule from May to June 2.
Okay, this week I've been craving anything Life something fierce, more than most weeks (and that is saying something) and LJ's been kind to me, here are some treasures I found:
powerofnature reviews the first season of Life, also major discovery, remember the Life fan credits I raved about, oh, every time I could? Yeah, well
powerofnature made it, yep see it here

aj wrote a fantastic essay on Charlie and Dani's partnership.
I ship them something fierce in fanfiction but truthfully, in the show I'm less certain about it because they work well as platonic partners that adding romance in the mix might just ruin the fabulous dynamic they already have going. Y'know what? Just read the essay, it's really insightful.
aj has a fantastic handle on Dani's character.

Ted, Charlie.
“I’m not nearly as mad as that woman I yelled at when I thought we were being triple-billed,” Ted says, and Charlie lets it go, because he knows Ted’s not angry at the fruit, just that Charlie hadn’t told him about a financial decision. Ted likes to know everything before it happens. It’s how he copes.
That and steak, apparently.

Charlie, Dani, Jennifer and Constance. Charlie sets out to agitate Jennifer and her husband, Dani intervenes. I like it because
wildwitchdoctor shows Dani as fierce and loyal and able to bite Charlie's head off just as he's about to do something stupid.
She took a deep breath before she finally said what he thought, she wanted to say. “You know what I think, Crews?”
“What?”
“I think you’re full of crap.” The corners of her lips turned up and her eyes twinkled with triumph.
“Oh really?” He said, not understand why her judgment was so amusing to him.
“Yeah.” She said, turning her head to the side, leaning closer. “I don’t think you’re zen at all.”
“No?” he smiled.
“Nah-ah.”
“Well, maybe I’m zenish.”

andrea_ms, I haven't found it yet but I'd like to again to thank you for the thing that's also brought me joy. Y'know what I mean:)

I had a few minutes to sit and think about Life and the Charlie/Dani dynamic. Now, something that's completely and utterly surprised me about this partnership (and I use that word very deliberately) is that I don't ship them. I don't.
O.o Yeah, I was downright gobsmacked when I realized this.

That's ok, I have to read them all again anyway!
You'll be the first to know if more are out :D
eta: also, this is freaky, you're like my tv twin or something. I went thru the same thing a little while ago with ncis. Heh. You can even see the entry if you go back once.

Ziva really is so kick ass, isn't she? I mean, I knew she was from what I've read but to really experience it? Fantastic.
My fav scene is (the beginning) when the guy is on the crap-pot and milo tells him to disappear while pointing a glock to his head and he say's "thank you, I haven't crapped for a week."
Love scene was delightfully gross - did u get to see DL's nipples! Hahaha. :::cringes with shame for being such a perv:::
Yeah, the love scene was that and I kept thinking that the kid was there and for meta reasons I can't help but think how awkward it was for Damian to, er, perform while his brother was directing. That must have been awkward right after.
There were so many great quotes, but Egg's freak-out when he thought he'd killed the guy was fantastic (if badly timed).
Oh, that's so sweet and I am happy that there are people who like them, because I've spent some time on them.
Browsing some of your entries, I just noticed that I don't need to join a LIFE community, because your journal is a pretty impressive source for people who like the show.

I do tend to go on about Life don't I? *g*

I read it over quickly, doesn't seem to have anything super interesting, just missing pieces.
I just really, really want new photos of our team and Sarah Shahi's promo pictures during S1.
Life upfront is on monday, so i think they may be waiting the official go (even tho we know they got renewed.)
And pics will only come much much later :/
A woman, with considerable social and financial advantages, chooses to become a whore." At Mira's lifted brow, Eve swore impatiently. "We don't have to pretty up the terminology here, doctor. She chose to make her living from sex. Flaunted it in front of her well-positioned family, including her arch-conservative grandfather. Why?"
"It's difficult to come up with one specific motive from such general and sketchy information. The most obvious would be the subject could find her self-worth only in sexual skill. She either enjoyed or detested the act."
Intrigued, Eve stepped away from the door. "If she detested it, why would she become a pro?"
"To punish."
"Herself?"
"Certainly, and those close to her."
Does it remind you of anybody? :P I just thought it was interesting, that or i'm really obsessed, eh.

And yes, McGee gets hot around season 4, imo. Love him too.
She hasn't reached my Dani Reese love but she's on the top 10 list. :)
